Thisstandardgivesgeneralguidelinesforinspectionandsamplingprocedurestobeusedtochecktheeffectivenessofcleaninganddisinfectionmethodsusedindairyplantsandreceivingstations,includingmilk-collectiontankers.
Itdealswithvisualinspection,samplingfromplantsurfaces(productline,bottlewashingequipment,containers,etc.),re-usableproductcontainers,air,samplingofwaterandaqueoussolutionsotherthanthoseaddedtotheproduct,andsamplingofrawmaterialsandproducts.
Itdoesnotcoverequipmentnormallyinstalledinfarms(e.g.milkingmachineryorrefrigeratedbulkmilktanks),nordoesitdealwiththeequallyimportantareasofhealthandhygieneofpersonnel,factoryenvironment,internalarrangementofthefactory,methodsofcleaning,packagingmaterialsbroughtinnewfromoutside(paper,carDBoard,plastic,newbottles,etc.),foodingredientsandadditives,selectionofnumberofunitsandtreatmentofthesampleinthelaboratory.
